MAKING A DIFFERENCE TO OUR COMMUNITY

William Peecher, the Chairperson of HCEF’s Holy Land Gifts program, received a “La Mad Award” from his corporation, la Madeleine de Corps, which owns and operates 62 laMadeleine Bakery Café’s nationwide, for his many hours of service work on a development program for Christians in the Holy Land.  The award was presented by Wallace Doolin, Chief Executive Officer of la Madeleine. William Peecher is the Director of Operations for the Washington DC market for laMadeleine.

The award notes that, “It is often said that our world has become very small . . . that we can now reach around the world as easily as around the block.  As part of the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation, and head of the gifts program of that organization, you have been making a tremendous difference to the Christian Community in Palestine.  (And that’s not Palestine, Texas.)”

Citing HCEF’s charitable work that benefits Palestinian Christians through economic aid, assistance to schools, and support for increased commerce in that region, la Madeleine especially lauded Mr. Peecher’s decision to travel to Jerusalem himself to meet with the local Christians and learn more about their needs.  The award continues, “We talk a lot at la Madeleine about leaders and leadership…what it means to be a leader…what it costs to be a leader…that leaders are servants…that leaders invest themselves in others…that leaders inspire others to achieve what they did not believe they could achieve. You have chosen to be a leader professionally, the results of which we see in the lives of managers and associates; but you have also chosen to be a leader in your personal life, the results of which are seen in terms of hope and opportunity given to Palestinian men, women, and children.  Bill, we honor you as a la Madeleine hero. You are reaching around the world to make a difference in your community… Merci, merci beaucoup.”
