A new information service in the Holy Land is aiming to give Christians around the world up-to-date information on the land of Christ’s birth.

The Holy Land Catholic Communications Center is directed by Comboni Missionary Father Joseph Caramazza. The Web site was launched by the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land.

It will provide information in five languages: English, Italian, French, Arabic and Hebrew.

"This center is at the service of the various expressions of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land," said Father Caramazza. "The service will little by little become an authentic news agency."

In an April 17 interview the center had with Archbishop Michel Sabbah of Jerusalem, the prelate said: "The new Web site is important to reflect the variety found in the Holy Land. A land that belongs to its inhabitants, but also the land where every Christian is born. To have up-to-date information on the Holy Land is important for every Christian.

"The Holy Land Communications Center will address Christians everywhere, and link them with the events that take place here. […] By this, I mean to say that all aspects of Christian life, from the great celebration and the activities of large parishes, down to the daily life of the small communities scattered around the Holy Land, will have to be explored."
