Resolution Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation Second National Conference Washington, DC October 20-21, 2000 Resolution Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation Second National Conference Washington, DC October 20-21, 2000

Whereas, the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation was created to provide succor to the Christians in the Holy Land, and

Whereas, the Christians are a living presence in the land of the birth of Christianity, and Whereas, the presence of Christians in the Holy Land has dramatically diminished during the Twentieth Century, and Whereas, the Holy Land Christians are at the point of possible disappearance in their ancestral homeland, and Whereas, migration of Holy Land Christians out of their homeland is due to deliberate political, social, and economic policies that force Christians to leave their homes, and Whereas, the rebellion by the Palestinians in their homeland is a direct result of the military occupation and system of apartheid maintained by military force, and Whereas, the injustice endured by the Palestinian population living in their homeland and in refugee camps for 52 years is no longer tolerable, and Whereas, despite United Nations Security Council Resolutions, international law and principles of the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the injustice of living conditions for Christians living in the Holy Land continues, Therefore, Be it resolved that The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation condemns the policies that create injustice for Holy Land Christians and Muslims. Be it further resolved that The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation encourages all parties to return to negotiations. Be it further resolved that The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation endorses a lasting and durable peace that provides justice for all sides, which includes the right of self-determination, the right of return, the establishment of a Palestinian state, free access to religious sites, and freedom to exercise the religion of one’s choice.
