The world’s biggest grouping of churches is focusing on Israeli settlements and continuing hardships in Gaza as part of its “World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel”. The Geneva-based World Council of Churches reported activities in more than 40 countries, including Brazil, Germany, Kenya, the Philippines and the United States, to mark the six-day event that started on 4 June. The (Lutheran) Church of Norway has urged parishes to observe the week, stating that Israelis and Palestinians “need a just peace without violence and occupation”.
