The HCEF Board of Directors, Advisory Board, staff and volunteers express our deep sadness at the passing of His Eminence John Cardinal Foley.

Cardinal Foley was a strong friend and supporter of the Holy Land Christians, and his efforts to promote peace and justice in that region were significant.  In 2009, HE Cardinal Foley, Grand Master, Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem received the 2009 HCEF Living Stones Solidarity Award on behalf of the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre.  HCEF established the Living Stones Solidarity Award to honor an institution that has made a sustained and extraordinary effort to love, support and stand in solidarity with the Christians in the Holy Land. These institutions, through their deeds of love and action, have demonstrated their determination to preserve the living stones in the land of Christianity’s birth.

His genuine concern for the Holy Land Christians is evident in his statement, “like HCEF, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre is committed to maintaining a vibrant Christian presence in the Holy Land, so as its Grand Master, I am happy to take the opportunity of this upcoming conference to share with those who attend both the challenging situation in which the Christians find themselves as they struggle to remain in the Holy Land and the many ways the Equestrian Order and its 27,000 members strive to support them.

Cardinal Foley was a man of great vision, insight, and love for his God, God’s people and the church.

He will be missed.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
