AMMAN/JORDAN – Under the written theme “The multitude of believers were of one heart and one soul” the Latin Patriarchate General Conference was launched with a sub-theme “History, Presence and Testimony.”

It started at the Visitors Home of the Rosary Sisters in Jordan with an invocation to the Holy Spirit and was followed by a welcoming address by Bishop Maroun Lahham, the Latin Patriarchal vicar in Jordan, after having been introduced by the Secretary of the Council of Priests, Fr. Faysal Hijazin.

The opening address was delivered by Bishop William Shomali, the Patriarchal vicar in Jerusalem, in the name of his Beatitude Patriarch Fouad Twal whose presence was delayed due to his late return from Milan for his participation in the World Meeting of Families.

This conference, the first of its kind, attended by Bishops and priests of the Patriarchate in Jordan and Palestine, will extend until Thursday evening, during which administrative and pastoral issues will be discussed. Fr. Rafiq Khoury will give a speech tomorrow on the theme of “the Ecclesiastical Dimension” in the life of a priest. Participants will listen to 3 minutes interventions from Priests. On Wednesday, Fr. Youssef Rizek, will deliver a talk on the day’s subject of The Spiritual Dimension in the life of a priest. On Thursday he will tackle the subject of the Pastoral Dimension in the life of a priest.
