Iraqi Christians take shelter in Jordan

Amman agrees to serve as temporary stop for refugees until they can eventually be resettled in Western countries.

The number of Iraqi Christians who have arrived in Jordan since mid-August has gone up to 350, according to Caritas, the NGO affiliated with the Catholic church.

Fleeing persecution by the Islamic State group, Jordan has agreed to shelter them for one year, until they can resettle in Western countries.

Al Jazeera’s Nisreen El-Shamayleh reports from Amman.
