Dear brothers and sisters

During this Holy Week leading to Easter, according to the Orthodox calendar, we from the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF) will be thinking of you and the suffering that you in the Mother Church have undergone in these past weeks.

Good Friday reminds us that as the prophet Isaiah has said,” Surely he has
borne our griefs and carried our sorrows.”  But thank God, Good Friday is not
the end of the story.

The Holy Fire of Saturday turns into the glorious resurrection of Easter Sunday. The Gospels recount the joy of his disciples as they meet the resurrected Christ. “He is risen” and the reply, “He is risen indeed!”

If today the outlook is dark as it was on Good Friday, we at HCEF pray
that the joy of the coming Easter will nevertheless brighten our lives with
hope and the certainty of redemption and resurrection.

Grace and peace,
