Prayer Vigil for Peace in the Holy Land

For all those concerned about the conflict in the Holy Land, we invite you to a prayer vigil to be held at St. Mathew Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road, Tuesday, December 10, 2002, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Deacon Tom Fox of St. Mathew Catholic Church, Rev. Christopher Phillips of Our Lady of Atonement Catholic Church, Rev. John Paggett of St. Andrew Episcopal Church and HCEF Committee members will lead an ecumenical service and pray for peace in the Holy Land.

The Arab Christians living in the Holy Land are the descendents of those who first heard the Gospel preached by Jesus Christ.  These Christians have steadfastly held to their faith in Jesus for 2000 years despite wars, Roman persecution, invasion and the Crusades.  Their latest trial is the occupation of their lands by Israeli forces.  On a daily basis, these Christians hold to their faith and struggle to survive in the face of a destroyed economy, curfews, closures, starvation and high unemployment caused by the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza.  Come to pray and learn how you can help preserve the 2000 year long legacy of Christianity in the land of its birth.

For more information, contact Deacon Tom and Mary Fox, HCSN Committee Chairpersons, at the Pilgrim Center of Hope, (210) 521-3377.
