altJerusalem - Archbishop Atallah Hanna Sebastia, Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem, appealed to all people to work as soon as possible in order to release the two bishops, Bishop Paul Yazigi archdiocese Aleppo Greek Orthodox Church and Bishop John Ibrahim archdiocese Aleppo for Syrian Orthodox.

 

Archbishop Atallah Hanna said that the two bishops are known for their humanitarian work, and their leading role in the convergence, inter-religious dialogue, and work in maintaining and strengthening national unity, both Islamic and Christian.

altWhile marking the 98th anniversary of the Armenians' Martyrs Day, Scores of Christian Armenians participated in the prayers ceremony that was held Wednesday in the Syrian capital of Damascus to stress their deeply- rooted affiliation to Syria.

"The Christians are the sons of this country and our duty is to encourage dialogue and promote the coexistence between the sons of Syria and we carry such responsibilities over our shoulders," Armash Nalbandian, primate of the Armenian Church of Damascus, told Xinhua at the Armenian Church in the old quarter of the capital Damascus.

altBeit Jala  - The Israeli Special Appeals Committee for land seizure under emergency released its verdict on actions brought by a convent of the Salesian Sisters and many families of Palestinian farmers against the stretch separation Wall that the Israeli authorities want to build in the Valley of Cremisan. The verdict released on April 24 proposes a change in the route of the Wall, so that the convent of sisters remains accessible from the town of Beit Jala and the Palestinian territories.

That was the message of a delegation of senior Palestinian Christian churchmen who visited the island of Ireland last week to promote the Kairos Palestine document, which seeks a just peace between Palestinians and Israelis as well as an end to illegal settlements in Palestine.
