Palestinian Christians in the village of Beit Jala in the occupied West Bank have written an open letter to Pope Francis in protest at the Israeli decision to build a Wall separating Bethlehem from Jerusalem for the benefit of the illegal Jewish settlements. The Pope has been urged to ask Israel to stop the construction of the so-called Separation Wall in Bethlehem.
The representatives of Beit Jala, which is near Bethlehem said, “We are at risk of seeing most of our land seized by the Israeli occupation army, which has actually started the construction of the wall annexing all the Christian Palestinian land.”

JERUSALEM – All the Christian Churches of the Holy Land met on Tuesday morning, May 7, 2013, to exchange traditional Easter wishes. The Orthodox celebrated Easter on May 5, according to the Julian calendar. For the record, the majority of Latin Catholics in the Diocese of the Holy Land also celebrated Easter on May 5, following a directive of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land (ACOHL).

Aleppo - Silence still shrouds the plight of the Orthodox Bishops kidnapped on April 22 on the outskirts of Aleppo. For weeks, the Greek-orthodox Patriarchate has been trying to establish contacts to start a negotiation and cannot understand the reasons behind the act, which remains unexplained. Interviewed by AsiaNews, Mgr. Jeanclement Jeanbart, the Greek-Melkite Archbishop of Aleppo, said that "we are groping in the dark", "the situation - he explains - is very delicate, for safety reasons the Orthodox Patriarchate is keeping quiet to avoid generating false news."

JERUSALEM – The Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Holy Land and the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada signed an agreement during the Arabic Speaking service of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on April, 28, 2013 to become companion churches. The agreement was signed by Bishop Munib Younan of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land and Bishop Michael Pryse of the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.
