Beit Jala, destruction of a Christian Town

These photos were taken in May 2001 to document the damage done by Israeli shelling and firearms to the homes and community places within the village of Beit Jala. Beit Jala houses the Latin Patriarchate’s diocesan seminary. Since the time these photos were taken, the separation wall has been built separating Beit Jala and other villages from nearby Israeli settlements. To see an article about another Christian town, Beit Sahour, and the problems the wall has created for the Christian housing project there, click here.
