Jewish and Muslim leaders this week found common ground by calling for religious tolerance at a conference for rabbis and imams in Spain. “There is no inherent conflict between Islam and Judaism,” they said in a joint statement. “While modern politics has impacted negatively upon the relationship, our two religions share the most fundamental values of faith in the One Almighty whose name is Peace.” About 140 rabbis and imams from 34 countries attended the second international conference of Jewish and Muslim clerics held in Seville, southern Spain. The conference was sponsored by the Paris-based peace foundation, Hommes de Parole.
