Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Christmas is a time when we are filled with strong feelings of thankfulness, not only for what we have received but also for what we are able to give to others, spiritually, physically and financially. In fact, that is really what Christmas is all about- doing for others. It is critical that we remember to continue to show our support of and solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. Despite the difficult economic times for individuals, families, companies, and non-profit organizations like HCEF, it is still very possible to practice good and smart stewardship. Consider this: a downturn in your investments could equal an opportunity for you to do good for yourself and Holy Land Christians. Donate Here

Under IRS laws, individuals may deduct up to $3000 per year from their earned income for investment losses that are experienced from sale of their investments. Thus, you may be able to sell shares of stocks, bonds or mutual funds, establish a loss relative to purchase price, and create a legal deduction for yourself. If one were in a combined federal, state, local tax bracket of 35% for example, taking such a loss ($3000) could create a tax savings of over $1000. Donating this tax savings, or even a portion of it, to HCEF, would allow for still another potential tax deduction. And, nothing prevents you from reinvesting while the market is down. Donate Here

Although HCEF is not in the business of dispensing individual investment or tax advice, we believe this is an excellent example of good and smart stewardship practices. Talk with your investment and tax advisor about these options.

Here's another one to consider. Gasoline prices have declined by more than 50% in many locales over the last few months. We are all grateful for the reduced prices each time we fill up the car. So, as you fill the car and the pump reads $30 instead of $62, please think about HCEF and consider donation a portion of that savings to support Christian Education in the holy Land. The savings on 10 fill ups could sponsor a child's education in the Holy Land for a year. Donate Here

There is always opportunity to give and bless another, no matter how bleak the current situation. This is what life is all about. Let us pray for Holy Land Christians, but also, where we have the opportunity, let us give of our resources. In this same spirit, gifts were brought to the Christ child, and his gift to us is eternal. Donate Here
"From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another." John 1:16

May you and your family enjoy a blessed and joy filled Christmas.
