His Eminence Donald Cardinal Wuerl has been a bulwark of support for the Christians of the Holy Land. Cardinal Wuerl continues to rally Christians to ‘not leave the Faithful alone’ in the land of Jesus’ birth, but to be active supporters with them in the pursuit of peace.
Through the Archdiocese of Washington Cardinal Wuerl has provided support by opening churches in the Archdiocese to welcome programs, events and activities that promote awareness about the Christians of the Holy Land. HE Bishop Barry C. Knestout, Auxiliary Bishop of Washington serves as a member of the HCEF Advisory Board and Monsignor Ronald Jameson, Rector of St. Matthew Catholic Church, the home church of the Archdiocese of Washington, serves on the HCEF Board of Directors.
His Eminence has graciously attended numerous HCEF events and programs held in support of the Holy Land Christians. In 2010, Cardinal Wuerl was the Keynote Speaker for our 12th International Conference Awards Banquet, during which he encouraged us to ‘become instruments of peace that transforms hearts,” further reminding us that “our faith provides us opportunity to make a positive contribution to the effort to secure both peace and human security in the Holy Land.“
Truly Cardinal Wuerl has committed his life to assisting the Christians in the Holy Land. On a daily basis, His Eminence continues to demonstrate courage and determination as he compels others to follow his Christ-like example in promoting and creating opportunities to advance the cause of justice, sustenance, and spiritual support for the living stones.
HCEF respects his many achievements, we appreciate his many efforts and we are privileged to honor HE Donald Cardinal Wuerl for his unwavering commitment and support of the Christians of the Holy Land.
