altThe Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate– With the blessing of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, from 20th to 21st February 2013, a delegation of the Romanian Patriarchate met in Jerusalem with a delegation of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, in order to solve the problem of the Romanian Settlement in Jericho.

Following the conversations conducted in a spirit of fraternity and mutual respect, an agreement was reached regarding the Romanian Settlement in Jericho, considered to be a house for the Romanian Orthodox pilgrims visiting the Holy Land.

The two delegations have drafted together a document that has received the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem and His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania, whereby brotherly Eucharistic communion between the two Churches was restored. This blessed work constitutes a contribution to the strengthening of pan-Orthodox unity.

The delegation of the Romanian Patriarchate was made up of His Eminence Metropolitan Nifon, Archbishop of Târgovişte and Patriarchal Exarch, president, Rev. Prof. Viorel Ioniţă, honorary patriarchal counsellor, and Rev. Fr. Michael Tiţa, patriarchal counsellor for church and interreligious relations.

On behalf of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, the delegation of the Romanian Patriarchate extended an invitation to His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem to visit the Romanian Patriarchate in October 2013. His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos joyfully accepted this invitation. The Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate
