There is no question that the occupation is one of the biggest obstacles of Palestine’s economic development. The Israeli government restricts necessary opportunities for trade and communication among Palestinians and internationals, which contributes to a high unemployment rate and prevents the growth of internal infrastructure. Consequently, the economy is forced into stagnation and decline.

In spite of the oppression, local and international NGOs are hard at work to turn Palestine’s economic situation around. Through their collective expertise and financial capabilities, many agencies, including HCEF, are revitalizing the economic spirit of Palestinians, providing jobs, and providing practical education towards business development through their various programs.

During HCEF’s 15th International Conference, there will be a special workshop focusing on the efforts of NGOs in Palestine to boost the economy. Attendees will have the opportunity to understand how certain NGOs are creating jobs for Palestinians and developing the overall infrastructure of the land through business training and investment.

The esteemed speakers who will be conducting this workshop include: Dr. Jad Daniel, International Consultant on Information Technology; Sami El-Yousef, Regional Director, Pontifical Mission for Palestine; William Corcoran, President/CEO, American Near East Refugee AID (ANERA); and Anthony Habash, HCEF Regional Director. To learn more about these and other speakers, please visit our Speakers’ Bios page. Be sure to come hear them speak on Saturday, October 19th at the Conference.
