His Beatitude the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Mgr Fouad Twal, has received this Monday morning, February 16, 2014, Mr. Mustafa Sarniç, the Turkish Ambassador in Jerusalem. Were also present for the meeting His Excellency Mgr William Shomali, Patriarcal Vicar, Father Imad Twal, General Administrator of the Patriarchate and Mr. Henrique Abreu, Head of Project Development Office at the General Administration of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

The Latin Patriarch discussed with his guest the difficult conditions in the region, explaining the role which plays the Latin Patriarchate alongside with the other religious, civil and governmental institutions for the service of the people in the Holy Land and the whole region.

On the other hand, the Turkish Ambassador in Jerusalem expressed the willingness and openness of his country to collaborate with the Latin Patriarchate’s charitable projects and activities.

We remind our readers that the Latin Patriarchate was established at the time of the Ottoman Empire, and that the its archives contain no doubt a significant number of official “faramans” and documents dating back to this period of the history.
