JERUSALEM : Patriarch Emeritus of Jerusalem reacted following the criminal arson of a house in the village of Kfar Douma, near Nablus in the West Bank. An arson that cost the life of an 18 month old baby, bearing the mark of Jewish extremism.

“Even Israeli Prime Minister talked about terrorism … But has he got the power to fight against this terrorism? That’s the question raised by H.B. Mgr Michel Sabbah, Patriarch Emeritus of Jerusalem, before pointing out with indignation : “At first an attack against a church, then against a mosque ; now against individuals!”

During the night of Thursday/Friday, last week, several houses of Kfar Douma were set on fire by several settlers. In one of them lived Ali Sa’ad Dawabsheh, 18 month old baby, who died consequently ; his parents and his brothers were injured. The slogan “price tag’ was written on one of the walls. Emotion and anger are going high in Palestine, also in Israel.

For Mgr Sabbah, “Israel should understand that time for peace has come. Oherwise we get sunk in terrorism. Israel’s community and political leaders should wake up ! Peace and justice are necessary. The two peoples should learn to respect, to love each other, in order not to fall in the trap of terrorism”

Patriarch added further on his facebook : “At present it is the Palestinians who are victims of Jewish terrorism ; tomorrow it will be Israel. Time for peace has come. Every man in Israel with a sense of wisdom should work towards this end. Revise your way of thinking, in order to stay human on this Holy Land”.
