His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan Ben Talal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Institute of Inter-Faith Studies, on Tuesday, December 26, conveyed Christmas well wishes to Christian Jordanians at St. Mary of Nazareth Church in Amman in the presence of leaders and representatives of the Christian churches in the Kingdom, as well as Christian and Muslim figures.

In his address, Prince Hassan noted how dear Jerusalem is to the Christians and Muslims, and stressed the need to continue to defend the Islamic and Christian sanctities in the city, as well as to protect its religious and historical heritage.

He added this feast calls upon us to consider the values of mercy and love, noting that we must express the message of love among us and convey it to the world, as well as continue interreligious dialogue which is based on tolerance, mutual respect, and acceptance of others.

Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop William Shomali had earlier welcomed Prince Hassan. He referred to the challenges facing the Middle East and Jordan as well as the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel which negates the Palestinian people’s rights in East Jerusalem, a city holy to all divine religions.

He also lauded His Majesty King Abdullah’s stands in defence of the Christian and Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem.
