“Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations.” (Psalm 90)

The Council of Church Leaders in Jordan issued the following statement on Saturday, March 14, which includes instructions designed to curtail possible corona-virus infection:

Dear brothers, in view of the exceptional circumstances that the world and the neighboring region is going through, and based on the decision undertaken by the Prime Ministry regarding halting prayers at churches and mosques to maintain public and community safety with the aim to curtail Corona virus-related infections, the following measures have been adopted:

1. Suspension of all Holy Masses and mass prayers in churches for two weeks effective March 15, 2020.

2. Funerals will be confined to the relatives of the deceased. No further prayers are to take place while condolences may be conveyed through social media outlets.

3. All church activities, gatherings, and functionaries will be halted for two weeks.
4. Any pre-arranged engagement ceremonies are to be confined to the couples to be engaged and their families at their homes.
We call on the faithful to incessantly pray to the Lord, imploring Him to have mercy on us and on the entire world, by transforming our homes into small chapels.
