JORDAN – The Latin Vicariate in Jordan issued a statement on Thursday, June 24, 2021, calling on priests, deacons, Religious Men and Women, and the faithful in Jordan to participate in the day of prayer dedicated for peace in the Middle East and the Holy Family.

The statement says: “the Council of Catholic Patriarchs of the East, in cooperation with the Council of Catholic Churches in the Holy Land, has decided to mark a day of prayer for ‘peace in the Middle East and for the consecration of our dear East to the Holy Family, on Sunday, June 27, 2021.”

The statement signed by Bishop William Shomali, Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan, adds: “on this occasion, H.B Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem will celebrate a solemn Mass in Nazareth, while the Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan will celebrate a solemn Mass at St. Mary of Nazareth Church in Sweifieh at 10:30 am marking the same intention.”

The statement of the Latin Patriarchal Vicariate in Jordan concludes by saying: “We ask our beloved priests to dedicate the Sunday Holy Mass for peace in the Middle East, as well as to dedicate the parish families, functionaries, and institutions to the Holy Family.”
