HOLY LAND – On Sunday, September 12, 2021, the General Secretariat of The Youth of Jesus’ Homeland – Palestine (YJHP), and the General Secretariat of the Youth Group in Jordan concluded their summer activities and camps for the year 2021.

In Palestine, the YJHP concluded all its summer activities with an activity day for the Secondary Group entitled “60 minutes”. The day started with a gathering in the Church of Christ the Redeemer in Taybeh, followed by an activity to break down barriers between parishioners. Later, Mrs. Yara Zayed gave a lecture about time management for young people.

At midday, everyone participated in the Mass presided over by Fr. Remon Haddad, Vice-assistant of YJHP, along with Fr. Nadim Giacaman, followed by a spiritual session with Fr. Bashar Fawadleh, Chaplain of YJHP.

After lunch, competitive games began, in which the youth of each parish competed against each other in an enthusiastic atmosphere. The day concluded with a small meditation during which the youth gave thanks to God for all His blessings and gifts.

On the same day, September 12, The General Secretariat of The Youth Group in Jordan concluded its summer camp for the University Group under the title “Shabebeh 21” or “Youth group 21”, which was held from 9 – 12 September, 2021, in Our Lady of Peace Center in Amman, after a hiatus of more than a year and a half.

The camp started with a Mass, followed by dividing the participants into competing groups to solve riddles. The camp also included a series of acting scenes that shed light on several topics that the Christian youth face, including pain, the credibility of the Bible, what comes after death, and the role of Christian youth in society, in order for members to share their diverse experiences and life challenges.

During the camp, a program entitled “Youth 21” was filmed, which is expected to be published on the General Secretariat’s page in the coming days. It was presented by Dalia Awad, Rakan Ammari, Mays Ayoub, and Mounir Khabees. The program hosted several guests including Sr. Rania Khoury who gave a lecture on pain, Mr. Raed Khoury who led a discussion panel on the credibility of the Bible, and Fr. Joseph Sweis who gave a lecture entitled “After Death”. The program concluded with a lecture by Fr. Marwan Hassan, Chaplain of the Youth group, and Mr. Osama Shatara, Secretary General of the Youth, under the title “The Role of Christian Youth in Society”.

The camp also included an evening of Eucharistic Adoration and confessions, as well as interactive workshops organized by the Training and Development Center of the General Secretariat, which dealt with several topics, including “Basic Psychological Needs”, “Self-love and its Importance in Relationships” presented by Niveen Andrawos, Deputy Secretary-General, and a lecture under the title “Decision-Making Skills” with Mr. Tariq Hijazin.

The participants were later divided into three groups: the first visited the Latin School in Misdar to clean and paint the school and its courtyards, the second went to the Naour cemetery to clean it, whereas the third group visited Mar Mansour Center for orphans with the aim of planting smiles and joy on the faces of the children. These initiatives came within the project of “Basma”, which was launched by the Service Committee.

The camp included competitions, games and entertainment nights that added to the camp an atmosphere of challenge and enthusiasm, and was concluded with a Mass presided over by Fr. Wajdi Twal, who stressed in his homily that “we must not only be believers, but also be full of love”.
