“Let us work together to replace despair with HOPE, fear with human SECURITY and humiliation with DIGNITY”

The Middle East Council of Churches Launches an Appeal for Lebanon.

“Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these ones, you did not do for me”

(Mathew 25:45)

Amidst the deteriorating living conditions in Lebanon and the increase in urgent humanitarian needs, the Relief and Service Department – Diakonia at the Middle East Council of Churches launched a new appeal to maintain the humanitarian needs and provide safe shelter for Lebanese citizens and residents of the country suffering from the deepening crises.

MECC seeks to soften the economic crisis blows in Lebanon by providing support the most vulnerable, especially those directly affected by the current deteriorating economic situation, people affected by the Beirut port explosion, the homeless, the widowed women with no one to provide for them, the elderlies, and people with special needs.

The appeal adresses many goals, one of many would be maintaining continuity in the support of vulnerable families in securing their basic needs, providing unrestricted financial assistance through different modalities, and facilitating access to medicines especially for people with chronic diseases such as Cancer and Coronavirus patients.

The appeal also covers the people affected by the Beirut port explosion and the economic crisis, helping them recover their businesses and daily activities or find new job opportunities. The appeal also highlights educational support initiatives to secure quality education for vulnerable students, as well as psychological support for the people affected by the multi-challenging situation in Lebanon.
