Diocesan phase of General Synod of Catholic Church kicks off in Holy Land.

HOLY LAND – On October 30, 2021, the diocesan phase of the General Synod of the Catholic Church was opened in the Holy Land.

In Palestine and Israel, the phase was opened during the celebration of the Solemnity of Mary, Queen of Palestine in Deir Rafat. The ceremony, which was attended by more than 3000 faithful from Galilee and the West Bank, was presided over by His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and the Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land. 

In Jordan, Fr. Jamal Khader, Latin Patriarchal Vicar, presided the opening ceremony at Mary of Nazareth Church in Sweifieh, while in Cyprus, it was H. E. Adolfo Yllana, Apostolic Nuncio, who opened the phase at “Our Lady of Graces” Maronite Church in Nicosia, in presence of the clergy, Religious Men and Women and the parishioners.
