JERUSALEM – On Friday, December 10, 2021, the employees of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and the Coordinating Catholic Aid Organizations (CCAO) gathered around H.B Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, to convey their Christmas greetings as is customary every year, at the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

The Patriarch of Jerusalem greeted everyone present, delivering a speech in which he touched upon the Christian identity in the Holy Land, and the importance of the Christian presence in Jerusalem alongside Muslim and Jewish brothers and sisters. He stressed that regardless of the lack of tourists this year, and although local Christians are a minority in the Holy Land, our Churches will be filled with local faithful on Christmas this year.

Patriarch Pizzaballa also thanked the employees present, noting that the Church in the Holy Land is the third employer after the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations, which is extremely important for maintaining the Christian presence in the Holy Land.

For his part, Mr. Tony Khashram, CCAO chair, greeted the Patriarch, expressing gratitude and appreciation to the Patriarch’s “continuous efforts to support the coordination between all the Catholic Aid Organizations in order to help our faithful remain in the Holy Land and particularly in Jerusalem”.
