As we laud all the efforts exerted by His Majesty the King and Crown Prince Al Hussein Ibn Abdullah in the multifaceted areas of development, including religious tourism, we look forward with optimism and hope, together with the extended Jordanian family, towards the new centenary.

The Council of Church leaders Churches in Jordan issued the following statement  dated December 20, 2021 conveying well wishes making Jordan’s first centenary:

In this period every year, Christians celebrate Christmas while looking to Bethlehem, where the newborn child, the Prince of Peace is asking Him to bless all Jordanians and their Hashemite leadership, as well as overwhelm them with  peace and prosperity.

As we reach the end of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s celebrations marking its first centenary, we recall its founding stages which was initiated at that time by the Hashemite Prince Abdullah I Ibn Al-Hussein, on the path of independence and development, while sowing the first seeds of the Jordanian national project.

The founding of Jordan is a story of struggle and sacrifice, during which the Jordanians, one generation after the other, made the most sublime sacrifices thus ensuring a country guided by love, unity and a firm national fabric. This homeland is like a mosaic that looks incomplete unless all its parts are there, and does not show its beauty if any part goes missing.

We, as Christians, are proud of what our ancestors have done for their homeland, along with their Muslim brethren, while striving to jointly build it and preserving the extended Jordanian society which is rich in its standard values and national principles.

Being an important and a basic part of the components of this dear country, we seize this occasion which is dear to all of us to extend our sublime well wishes, belonging, and nobility to the country’s leader, His Majesty King Abdullah II, to the dear homeland, and to all of its children, while pleading with the Lord to inundate the second centenary with further prosperity and progress.

The Christian churches in Jordan–along with their leaders, pastors, and believers, as well as their educational, spiritual, humanitarian and medical institutions–express pride in the wise Hashemite leadership, in the awareness of the extended Jordanian people, and in their national unity which is the most precious thing we have. We also underline in this regard the need to enhance and preserve this unity in the new centenary.

The churches also pride themselves on the sublime humanitarian and religious initiatives that have been issued to the world, especially during the reign of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, including listing Christmas and new year as official holidays for all citizens, the Amman Message, the Common Word between Us and You initiative, and the World Interfaith Harmony Week, as well as for hosting the forcibly displaced brethren Christians of Mosul in Iraq who lost means for a decent living and found security, safety, love and care in our beloved country. We also highly value the Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

As we laud all the efforts exerted by His Majesty the King and Crown Prince Al Hussein Ibn Abdullah in the multifaceted areas of development, including religious tourism, we look forward with optimism and hope, together with the extended Jordanian family, towards the new centenary. We also plead with the God of love, so that Jordan would remain an oasis of security stability, and with renewed determination to serve justice and peace in beloved Palestine, and in all Arab countries that still suffer from wars and crises.
