On Thursday, May 12, 2022, the Latin Church in Jordan welcomed Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop Jamal Daibes for the first time following his Episcopal ordination which took place on Friday, May 6 in Bethlehem, and following his celebration of the first Episcopal Mass in his parish church in the town of Zababdeh, southeast of Jenin, the Holy Land.

 The motorcade of Bishop Daibes  proceeded from the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem heading to the Latin Vicariate in Amman in the company Grand Master of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem Cardinal Fernando Filoni, and Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa. At King Hussein Bridge, the motorcade was welcomed by a number of Latin Patriarchate priests on its way to Amman. 

 

Later, a prayer of thanks was held marking the grace of the new Episcopal ordination at Our Lady of Nazareth Church in Sweifieh western Amman. The attending priests, deacons, and the faithful sang the old Latin Hymn “God, We Praise You” which is usually recited in major ecclesiastical celebrations.

 

Bishop Daibes is scheduled to preside at his first Episcopal Holy Mass in Jordan at 10:30am (Jordan local time). on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Our Lady of Peace Center, with the participation of a group of clergy and believers.
