Jerusalem: The Catholic Church conveys condolences regarding the fire at Egypt’s Coptic church

Following the text of the statement issued by the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land (ACOHL) dated August 14, 2022 conveying condolences regarding the major fire that broke out at “Abu Seifein” Coptic Church at Imbaba:

The Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land learned, with great sadness, on the major fire which broke today at “Abu Seifein” Coptic Church at Imbaba (Giza, to west of Cairo).

The Assembly is saddened more to learn on the death of several tens of worshippers and on tens of other injuries.

We pray to the Lord for the rest of the souls of those who perished in the fire and for quick recovery of the injuries.

We offer our condolences to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Patriarch of Alexandria of the Coptic Orthodox Church, and to the families of the victims.
