His Grace Bishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, welcomed Sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib, the Director of the Jerusalem Waqf and the affairs of Al Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Mustafa Abu Swi, and Sheikh Omar Al-Kasawani, and the accompanying delegation from Al Awqaf Department, on Monday January 16th, 2023, at the Diocesan Offices.
 
Sheikh Al-Khatib congratulated Archbishop Naoum on Christmas and the New Year, and condemned, in the name of Al Awqaf, the attack on the Church’s Cemetery, and confirmed that he and the delegation stand in Solidarity with the Church. He concluded by expressing his pride of the cooperation between Al Awqaf and the Churches in Jerusalem, and in Bishop Naoum’s role in building bridges and good relationships in Jerusalem.
 
All gathered expressed the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship in defending and keeping the Islamic and Christian Holy Sites in Jerusalem under the leadership of his Majesty King Abdullah II.
 
Bishop Naoum thanked Sheikh Al-Khatib and the delegation and welcomed their visit and support, and emphasised the importance of continuing the support and joint efforts in defending the Islamic and Christian Holy Sites in Jerusalem and the Country.
