On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, a cultural and informative agreement was signed by the Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) in Jordan and Caritas Jordan with the aim of preparing a comprehensive study on the “Christian institutions” in Jordan through conducting a geographical survey of the distribution of Christian citizens and churches in Jordan, as well as by reviewing the economic and social realities of Christians in Jordan.

The agreement was signed by CCSM Director Fr. Dr. Rif’at Bader and Caritas Jordan Director Wa’el Suleiman.

Fr. Bader expressed the CCSM’s readiness to attain permanent cooperation with Caritas Jordan, stating that this cooperation has been going on for a long time. He thanked Caritas Jordan for its unstinting efforts in serving the needy humanitarian community by caring for the sick, the poor, the elderly, and the displaced which is a noble humanitarian activity. Noting that this agreement coincides with the advent of Lent which is marked  on Wednesday, February 22, in the Catholic World, he expressed his pleasure that the agreement is concluded  a few days after the convening of the Continental Synodal Assembly of the Catholic Churches of the Middle East in Beirut where the conditions of Christians and their future were reviewed  based on the spirit of synodal cooperation, namely partnership and cooperation among all ecclesiastical institutions operating in the East.

For his part, Mr. Wael Suleiman thanked the CCSM for the prevailing “twinning” and permanent cooperation. He also congratulated the CCSM on its 10th anniversary and the 20the anniversary of the launching of the abouna.org websites and its slogan which is compatible with the Caritas’ message, namely “Media in the Service of Humanity”. He said that the study to be prepared by the CCSM will promote the youth’s awareness so that their contribution to society will become more effective by getting acquainted with the  honorable history of Christians and their active role in communion and cooperation with various institutions, in addition to encouraging them to perform a more mature role and positive contributions to the honorable Jordanian society.
