Egypt: CCSM, Arab Women Investors Union sign cooperation agreement

The Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) in Jordan and the Arab Women Investors Union (AWIU) have signed an agreement designed to ensure joint cooperation in the field of religious tourism between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The agreement was signed by CCSM Director Fr. Dr. Rif’at Bader and AWIU President Dr. Hoda Yassa.

Upon signing the agreement, Fr. Bader stated that the agreement was inspired by the visit undertaken by His Royal Highness Prince Al-Hussein Ibn Abdullah II who encouraged Egyptian citizens to visit Jordan at the time he visited Egypt in 2021, during which he opened an exhibition for religious and historical tourism in the presence of Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and of the See of St. Mark, which was held under the patronage of President Abdul Fattah Sisi. He pointed out that the agreement aims to encourage religious tourism between Egypt and Jordan.

For her part, Dr. Yassi said that the agreement is in implementation of the initiative “For you, my country, for our Arab unity, and for our international cooperation.” The agreement includes establishing religious touristic nexus between Egypt and Jordan as the two countries enjoy cooperation in various fields, as well as a history corroborated by the holy places visited by pilgrims from different parts of the world. This cooperation is titled, “In the follow-up of the footsteps of the Holy Family in Egypt.”

Dr. Yassi said that the agreement has been concluded in light of the outcome of the 26th session of the AWIU Conference which convened under the patronage of the prime minister and of the Arab League during the period from October 30 to November 3, 2023, and was held at the Arab League with the participation of Chairman of the Tourism and Heritage Committee in the Jordanian Senate Engineer Abdul Hakim Al-Hindi, who deputized for the speaker of the  Senate Faisal Al-Fayez.

Following the signing of the agreement, an Egyptian-Jordanian project was proclaimed to serve intra-regional tourism which includes Egypt and Jordan, and to serve three goals in the sectors of education, health, and culture.
