St. Barbara a Greek Orthodox Church was bombed in Aboud By the Israeli Army

The Church of St. Barbara in Aboud was bombed on May 31, 2002 by Israeli Defense Forces. There was no reason to bomb our church. We, the Christian Youth in Aboud, condemn this action and consider claims by the IDF that it was used my militants to be misleading. Aboud is a village Northwest of Jerusalem that is famous because of its very old Christian Churches. We consider this bombing a sinful, immoral action against humanity.

It is estimated that the Church of St. Barbara is about 1,500 years old, and this is the first time in its 1,500-year existence that anyone has ever damaged it.  On December 17th of each year, Christians come to pray in this church to ask the intercession of St. Barbara.  The story of St. Barbara has become part of our Christian tradition in the Holy Land.  Many people ask her intercession since she is a symbol of a Christian martyr who remained faithful to Jesus to her death.  From now on, we will include this evil action in the story of St. Barbara, and we hope to tell all humankind about it.  If you consider this action as unfair, please help us in our campaign and forward this message to every one.

In Faith,

The Christian Youth in Aboud.
