It was 2000 years ago- the birth of the Christ child- but it seems as fresh

Dear Friends,

Greetings

It was 2000 years ago- the birth of the Christ child- but it seems as fresh

and new today as it did then. The angels sent to bear the news of the most

important event in this world’s history broke through the skies over the

little town of Bethlehem near Jerusalem. “The Word became flesh and made his

dwelling among us” John 1:14

The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF) family joins with all

Christians at this glorious season as, in our hearts, we are all pilgrims to

the land where these dramatic events took place. Much of HCEF’s work takes

place around Bethlehem as we seek to renew hope for the Arab Christians of

the Holy Land in these difficult times.

Despite all of the discouraging things in Bethlehem occurring now, the

Christians of the Holy Lands cling to the Christmas promise of “Peace on

Earth; and Goodwill towards Men.” We, at HCEF, can take a measure of

satisfaction that our child sponsorships, our pilgrimages, our international

conferences and many other programs have sent a signal to Holy Land

Christians which tells them not to be afraid and that they have not been

forgotten.

So let us rejoice in the certain knowledge that the Holy Child of Bethlehem

really did come to earth and is still with His Church today. We send

greetings to all of the HCEF family and pray that you will all enjoy the

peace of Christ at this Advent season.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
