Jerusalem is hosting more than 4000 evangelical Christians from about 80 countries for a gathering that has been billed as Israel’s single largest tourism event of the year. Media reports stated that the Israeli economy is expected to be bolstered by about US$15 million as a result of the week-long annual event organized by the pro-Israel International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, and which coincides with the celebration of Sukkot, the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles. “Since 1980, God has used this ministry to revive the ancient biblical tradition of the nations coming to Jerusalem to keep this festival of joy,” the Rev. Malcolm Hedding, the embassy’s executive director told the Jerusalem Post newspaper.
