The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF) invites you to travel with us in January 2008 on a Christian pilgrimage and fact-finding mission to see the holy sites in Jordan, Palestine and Israel and to meet with the Christian communities of the Holy Land.

Father Michael Salah (a Palestinian American) will provide spiritual support for the group as well as a unique insight on the Palestinian Christian community.  This trip will include two very special events – an opportunity to participate in the Fourth Ecumenical Children’s Journey to Bethlehem and a chance to attend an International Peace Conference also being planned in Bethlehem (both events are being sponsored by HCEF). The Journey to Bethlehem event will bring approximately 1000 Christian children (aged 7 – 13) from different Christian villages to the birthplace of the Prince of Peace to celebrate Christmas and to express their hopes for peace. Many of these children have never been to Bethlehem before, even though it is close to their homes.

This pilgrimage will include visits to the holy sites and Christian villages in Jordan, Palestine and Israel including the exciting new archeological find at Bethany Beyond the Jordan marking the spot where John baptized Jesus, Mt. Nebo, the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, the Garden of Gethsemane on Mt. of Olives, the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth, and the Sea of Galilee.

A very important feature of this pilgrimage will be the opportunity for pilgrims to visit, share meals and worship with the Palestinian Christians in villages throughout the Holy Land.  There will be many opportunities to observe first hand the full impact of the occupation and the Wall on the lives of Palestinians.  Meetings will also be organized with political and religious leaders of the area.  There will also be opportunities to shop for gifts at family-run shops selling the fine hand-crafts of the local artisans and to explore the markets.

The pilgrimage dates are January 7 – 20, 2008.  The cost of the pilgrimage is $3100 (including roundtrip airfare, all meals and tips) from any major international airport in the US.  Reservations must be made no later than November 30, 2007.
