On behalf of the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation we offer our heart-felt condolences and prayers for the Burchick family at this time of the passing of Sir Michael Burchick, KHS, father of Sir Duane Burchick, KHS. Although we are challenged by death we are not in despair. As Christians we proclaim that because of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our brother Michael is experiencing the fullness of life with God. We pray, in unity, that the peace of Christ be with the family of Sir Michael Burchick. A funeral service will be celebrated for Sir Michael Burchick on Friday, June 29, 2001 at 10:15 am at St. Hugh Catholic Church 135 Crescent Road Greenbelt, Maryland 20070.

In his final days, Sir Michael Burchick spoke of his commitment as a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre and his concern for the people of Jerusalem and throughout the Holy Land. The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation announces with deep gratitude the establishment of the Sir Michael Burchick Memorial Fund. The fund will support educational programs sponsored by the HCEF and coordinated by the foundation’s Education Committee including the Child Sponsorship Program and the recently established College Scholarship Program.

The Child Sponsorship Program provides an opportunity for benefactors in the United States to support the education of indigenous Christian children living in the Holy Land. The College Scholarship Program provides tuition scholarship funds for Palestinian Christians who are enrolled in a college or university in the Holy Land.
