JERUSALEM – The Women’s Ministry of the ELCJHL held their World Day of Prayer service on Friday, March 8th at 3:30pm in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem. The Women’s World Day of Prayer is an ecumenical event involving women from the Anglican, Roman Catholic, Armenian, Lutheran, Melkite, and Orthodox traditions and took place in Arabic, German, French, and English.
The prayers this year were written by the Women’s Committee in France. They were translated to Arabic for our use and the Scottish Committee donated programs for English-speakers in our congregation.
Ms. Aida Haddad and Ms. Nora Carmi welcomed those who came to participate in our World Day of Prayer service. Ms. Aida Haddad has been on the World Day of Prayer organizational committee for Jerusalem since 1981 and Ms. Nora Carmi is the World Day of Prayer representative from Palestine on the WDP International Committee.
We would like to thank all who participated, especially Mrs. Rimaz Kasabreh who performed a solo, Ms. Abla Ghaneim who sang the Gospel, and Mrs. Maha Ateeq, who played the organ for the service, as well as Ms. Aida Haddad and Ms. Nora Carmi.
