"And go quickly, and tell his disciples that HE is Risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word." Matthew 28:7-8
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
"Go quickly", "Departed quickly", "and did run"…. These terms communicate to us the urgency with the angel wanted the women to respond to the message that Jesus has Risen! The resurrection of Jesus and seeing him again in Galilee was good news and indeed an urgent message! Still today the Christians of the Holy Land have an urgent message which bids our quick response!
For more than 2000 years Palestinian Christians have maintained the Christian presence, our roots and heritage by remaining in the Land of Jesus' birth. Even with the good and positive news of Palestine being recognized as an observer state and talks of positive investment in Palestine, the situation in the occupied territories of Palestine remains bleak. Checkpoints still intimidate and restrict, the long oppressive wall of separation is still standing, and injustice is still prevalent, with less than 1.5 % of the Palestinian Christians remaining in their own homeland. Yes, this is an urgent message and it requires an urgent response!
Without your support, Christians in the Holy Land are spiritually, financially and physically isolated from their brothers and sisters in Christ around the world. This Easter, please consider a donation to HCEF in support of our efforts to reach out to our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. Your generous gift will contribute to support of a viable Christian presence in the Holy Land and will remind families celebrating Easter this year that they are not alone.
Your gift means a lot and makes a big difference. A donation of $1000.00 will help to renovate a bathroom or kitchen in a family's dilapidated home, $500.00 will assist the elderly who are left alone because the heads of households migrate or immigrated to another country in search of employment. Whatever you can contribute it will go a long way in helping HCEF meet the urgent call and in replacing despair with hope, fear with security and humiliation with human dignity.
