JERUSALEM – The General Administration’s mission is to manage the material aspect of the life and works of the Latin Patriarchate. It receives and distributes donations of benefactors of the Patriarchate, the Order of the Holy Sepulcher in the first place. The Latin Patriarchate is aware of the humanitarian needs of the people and appeals for assistance are supervised and managed by the Office of the General Administration of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Many appeals for humanitarian assistance emanate from priests serving pastoral needs, and most cases stem from the extreme conditions which exist as a result of the political situation. In the present circumstances people are not able to provide for essential and critical medical emergencies. And, based upon needs and availability of funds, the Patriarchate provides humanitarian assistance.
The shortage of residential housing in the Holy Land is acute and the Patriarchate has responded and continues to respond to housing needs by sponsoring residential developments in an attempt to alleviate the critical housing shortage which is the prime reason young Christians emigrate.
Since August the 1st, Father Imad Twal is the new General Administrator of the latin Patriarchate.
A Word from Father Imad Twal, LPJ General Administrator
I wish to begin by thanking all those who have placed their trust in me to be entrust with the responsibility of General administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Especially, I convey my gratitude to his Beatitude Fouad Twal, and to all the bishops and priests for their love, support and confidence.
Being General Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem is a new experience for me, as a priest. It’s such an extensive mission with many tasks and duties. However, thinking of the precious objectives that our humanitarian assistance and projects can achieve for our Christians lightens up my way.
I would also like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation for the full commitment that Fr. Humam demonstrated during his tenure as General Administrator over the past several years. I wish him every success in his studies.
I also extend my sincere thanks to all friends and lovers of the Holy Land, especially the Grand Magisterium of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, and all Lieutenancies, Lieutenants, Knights and Dames of the Holy Sepulcher throughout the world, as well as all partners and individuals who offer their moral support and financial assistance to our Church.
As General Administrator, my responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Palestinian cause and the Christian existence in the Holy Land.
- Developing schools and upgrading education levels in LPJ schools.
- Supporting local Christians through the crises and recent conflicts of Syria, Iraq and Gaza.
- Supporting the increasing growth of Christians in Jordan.
- Encouraging the priestly vocational program through support of the Seminary.
I pray that God will grant me needed strength and wisdom in my new assignment for the good of our church and Christians in the Holy Land.
Together we can work on elevating the level of Christian living
and the protection of their dignity.
