Abel Hai Azab, dean of the University of Al Azhar – known as the greatest theological center of Sunni Islam – has announced the decision to take advantage of Christian doctors and professors within the five hospitals connected to the medical school of the great Islamic university. The announcement was made by Hai Azab himself, during a conference organized by the Egyptian Association of pediatricians.
The approval – we learn from Arab sources consulted by Agenzia Fides – was agreed by the University with the Ministry of Health, and wants to represent a concrete incentive and high symbolic value – said Professor Hai Azab in his speech – in order to enhance the collaboration between Christians and Muslims in the scientific field, as a tool to combat and defeat the sectarian obscurantism.
