“Let us work together to replace despair with HOPE, fear with human SECURITY and humiliation with DIGNITY”

Israeli Christians critical of government policies, survey finds

Christians living in Israel are less likely to support Israeli government policies than their counterparts in the US, a Pew Research study has found.

Among Israeli Christians, 80% believe that their country’s government is not sincerely interested in making peace with Palestinians, and a nearly equal number (79%) believe that the construction of Jewish settlements ultimately hurts the country’s hopes for security. Most (72%) question whether Israel can be a true democracy and at the same time a Jewish confessional state. And 86% say that the US is too supportive of Israeli policies.

A 2013 survey of American Christians found that only 18% thought the US was too supportive of Israel. The number was substantially lower among Evangelical Protestants.
