WASHINGTON, DC – The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF) is pleased to announce that Her Excellency Rula Ma’ayah, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities in Palestine, will receive the 2016 HCEF Heritage Award at HCEF’s 18th International Conference and Awards Banquet, Forging a New Bond of Solidarity for Equality, Prosperity and Peace. The Awards Banquet will take place on Oct. 14, 2016 at the Washington Marriott Georgetown.
The HCEF Heritage Award honors individuals who advocate for the preservation of the cultural, historic, and national resources of the Holy Land and is proactive in finding practical solutions to Holy Land heritage issues at home and beyond.
Sir Rateb Rabie, KCHS, HCEF President/CEO, commented, “This award gives public recognition to the many years of hard work and dedication H. E. Rula Ma’ayah has given to HCEF’s mission.”
Rula Ma’ayah is a member of the Fatah Leadership Committee of the West Bank and in the High Council of Childhood and Motherhood. From 2008 to 2012, she was the General Director of the Ministry of Justice, a member of the Governance Strategy Group, and a member of the Justice Sector Working Group. In 2007, she was an instructor at ICP Bethlehem University and served as a Director in the Ministry of Youth and Sport from 1995 to 2005. She has also been a Bureau Member of the International Union of Socialist Youth and a member of the General Union of Palestine Students/International Relations Committee. She has a B.S. degree from Birzeit University and a Professional Diploma from the Catholic School of Milan.
