Birzeit, Palestine– Birzeit Senior Citizen Center (BSCC) held a celebration for its members International Day of Older Persons, Saturday October 1st 2016, with the participation of Father Louis Hazboun, Birzeit Parish Priest, the Rosary Sisters and representatives of various institutions and esteem figures from the Birzeit community.
Fr. Hazboun, with the help of Deacon Shibly Burbar, gave thanks to God for his blessings and the gift of life, “…which God gave us to work and build towards the goodness of humankind and to carry the message from a generation to another, a message of peace and love,” he stated.
As a special gift from Ms. Rania’s Salon in Birzeit, members of the center received skin and nail care services in preparation for the celebration. Mrs. Jamele Aranki, HCEF representative in Birzeit, gave remarked on the center and the services that has offered the elders throughout the years, including health care services, cultural and social and entertainment, organized trips and hot meals.
Mrs. Aranki appreciated the efforts of the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF) and its initiatives aimed at helping the Christians of the Holy Land, especially the marginalized categories of the society such as the elderly.
Mrs. Aranki extended her sincerest appreciation to all HCEF partners and donors, including the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, National Presbyterian Church, Washington, DC, Caritas Jerusalem, Pontifical Mission for Palestine, the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development, WFO, as well as all individual international and local donors.
Elders were also able to enjoy music performed by a talented young musician from Birzeit young child, which delighted the hearts of the BSCC members, and concluded the day of celebration by attending the holy mass at the Ave Maria parish.
