The churches in Jordan dedicated Sunday Masses on October 28 to praying to the victims of the Dead Sea flash floods.

The Sunday homilies expressed deep sadness at the mishap that took place in the Dead Sea as a result of the inclement weather conditions and the flash floods that hit the Dead Sea region leading to the loss of 21 Jordanians, mostly young students as dozens were hurt.

The bells of sadness rang in various churches in the Kingdom while the churches conveyed condolences to Jordanians in general and to the families of the victims who passed away in particular. The Churches noted that the grave calamity had impacted all the Jordanian families causing widespread sadness. This feeling indicates the firm social unity that prevails under various circumstances in Jordan.

During the prayers, the believers lit candles and prayed pleading with the Almighty God to have the souls of the victims rest in peace. They also conveyed condolences to the families of the victims and prayed that God would protect Jordan, the king, the people, the army and the government from evil.
