His Majesty King Abdullah II received on Thursday April 9 Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church Ignatius Aphrem II.
During the meeting, King Abdullah stressed that Christians are part of the fabric in the Arab world and that Jordan would continue to exert efforts in the direction of defending the properties of churches. He added that Jordan would also continue to play its historic role in the protection and care for the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem based on the Hashemite custodianship.
For his part, Patriarch Aphrem II expressed his appreciation for His Majesty’s care for the holy sites in Jerusalem, including the Syriac Church.
