MADABA – The American University of Madaba (AUM) celebrated the graduation of the fifth class of its students on Saturday, July 6, 2019, under the patronage of H. E Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, with the presence of Bishop William Shomali, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and members of the board of trustees, University President Dr. Nabil Ayoub, deans of faculties, academic and administrative members of staff, graduate students and their families, and a large number of guests.

AUM President Professor Nabil Ayoub conveyed well wishes on the 10th anniversary of laying the cornerstone of the AUM by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. He addressed the graduates saying, “Your vision of the future must incorporate the spirit of innovation and leadership. The education, skills, and values you have acquired at the university, in all its academic programs, will undoubtedly reshape your lives in general and in the labor market in particular.”

For his part, Bishop Shomali said in an address representing the board of trustees, “We are proud to live in Jordan because it is a sacred land which needs the young generation’s talents, minds and competencies. Although Jordan has little natural resources, it has a wealth more important than gold mines and oil wells, namely a young generation eager to acquire knowledge.” He pointed out that graduates live in a rapidly evolving digital world, thus the certificates the acquire should not be the end of their journey in life, but rather serve as a new platform for further self-learning and for acquiring further knowledge.

He added, “The AUM is still young, but it aspires to develop its academic programs, improve its infrastructure, increase the number of enrolled students, gain further American accreditations, and continue to promote the educational environment.”

He recalled the reason that motivated the establishment of the AUM, namely to have generations qualified educationally as well as capable of playing a role in society while equipped with skills, knowledge and wisdom, in addition to a culture of tolerance, dialogue, respect for differences, openness to cultures and languages.

It is to be noted that the AUM prepares its students to see beyond what’s obvious into the world of what’s possible. The AUM founded in 2011, is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the rural setting of Madaba. It is officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Jordan.

The AUM offers degrees in civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biology and biotechnology, medical laboratories, nutrition and dietetics, pharmacy, computer science, accounting, business administration, banking and finance, marketing, risk management, architecture, graphic design, interior design, English language and literature, as well as translation among others.
