His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein Ben Abdullah II, accompanied by Prince Hashem Ben Abdullah II, lit a Christmas tree in the Peace Square, Madaba, on Sunday, December 15 marking Christmas and New Year 2020 celebrations.
During the ceremony marking the event, Latin parish priest in Madaba Firas Aridah welcomed the Crown Prince. In his address, he said, “I have the pleasure to welcome Your Highness in your beloved city, Madaba, the city of mosaics and history, the city of the Prophet Moses and John the Baptist, as well as the city of authentic Christian and Muslim common living in the spirit of faith and fraternity. Christmas is the feast of the incarnation of peace and love, with which peace coming from Heaven dwells in our hearts. With the birth of Lord Jesus Christ in our Holy Land and His baptism in the Jordan River mankind was reborn, and new universal spiritual concepts emerged which changed the course of history forever.”
He added, “Today, as we are one Jordanian family celebrating Christmas, we stress that you have always been, and continue to be, our resort at hard times in the face of adversity. The wise Hashemite leadership was not only a custodian of the holy places, but rather a guarantor of societal and religious peace in our beloved Jordan and the whole world. May God bless your efforts and our efforts in building a better society. May God’s blessing overwhelm us in our beloved Jordan, in the villages, in the desert, in the camps, and in the cities. May the Lord dwell in our homes and hearts and serve as a source of tranquility for us and the entire world. May God protect you and protect Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.”
