The Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) in Jordan has published a special prayer for the healing of COVID-19 victims in Jordan and the world at large. This prayer was reported on Monday, April 6, since Easter celebrations approach according to the Gregorian and Julian calendars, as reported by CCSM Director Fr. Dr. Rif’at Bader who wrote the prayer. Father Bader urged the believers to follow prayers on social media outlets so that they can participate in the Easter Church Services.

The prayer addressed to the Merciful God includes a mentioning of the prophets, saints, and martyrs of faith who lived in Jordan and set out from its holy land to spread their message of salvation including John the Baptist who baptized Lord Jesus Christ in the Jordan River. The prayer mentions the churches and the papal visits, in particular the Baptism Site, and a supplication– that includes the wonderful pictures of beloved Jordan–for the healing of Corona virus victims in Jordan, the Holy Land, and the entire world.

The prayer includes music by renowned musician Andre Rieu and his famous band of the international anthem Amazin Grace. The work was supervised by Iraqi Rasen George, who is a volunteer working with the CCSM.

Following is the text of the prayer for the healing of Jordan and the world written by Fr. Dr. Rif’at Bader:

Our Merciful God,
We cry out to you from Jordan, the Holy Land, on whose pure soil your prophets and saints lived.

From here Prophet Moses passed and stood on the top of Mount Nebo,

Here Prophet Elijah was born, namely in the village of Tishbe in Gilead, and ascended to Heaven from Wadi Al-Kharrar in a chariot of fire and horses of fire,

Here, John the Baptist called for repentance, across Jordan, and baptized Lord Jesus Christ in the River which bears the name of our beloved country,

Here, Lord Jesus Christ presented His teachings, wandered in our cities and villages with His Virgin Mother, Mary, the Lady of the Mount, and performed many miracles, healing the sick and expelling the demons.

Multitudes of pilgrims and worshipers came to this place and this is attested by churches decorated with mosaics and sculptured to read: “This people loves Christ.”

In the modern time, this place was the first destination of St. Pope Paul VI, and St. Pope John Paul II who said at the Baptism Site in 2000: “In my prayers I will remember the Christian and Muslim people of Jordan, especially the sick and elderly. May God bless the Kingdom, Their Majesties the King and the Queen, and all the people of the country.”

We plead with You, our beloved God, to take our country into consideration in these days, to bless it, to bless the Holy Land where You were born and where You lived, to heal Coronavirus victims, as well as to eliminate the specter of this epidemic from our country and the entire world.

Bless the King, the government, and the people. Protect the security men and the army, as well as all health workers who place human health, life, and dignity above any consideration. Bless our churches and mosques, and help transmit through social media outlets Your consolation and the faith prevailing in Your healing ability.

We ask that through the intercession of Your mother, Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, and all the saints and martyrs who inundated our country with the scent of their holiness and their pure blood.

Glory be to You forever – Amen
