The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in partnership with the Jordan Tourism Board and the Baptism Site Commission, on Saturday organised a Christmas tree lighting event at the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The event was attended by members of Parliament as well as the clergy.
Tourism Minister Nayef Al Fayez said that “the adjacency between the prayer call and hymns” in Jordan show the greatness of the Kingdom in leadership, people, history, and culture, as Jordan views Christianity, as well as other religions, on the basis of the Amman Message that calls for tolerance and moderation.
The chairman of the Council of Heads of Churches extended thanks for the efforts exerted in providing services to historical sites linked to Christianity.
